Four days of activities
A packed schedule of events and activities are on the calendar from July 1 to 4 for the 2004 Canada Day celebrations.
The Feds have snagged some of the biggest acts in Quebec and Canada for a series of free concerts in Montreal over Canada Day on July 1st and 2nd, including France d'Amour, Kevin Parent, Roch Voisine, Lennie Gallant, and Hawksley Workman.
All shows are held on the Main Stage at Quai Jacques Cartier, beginning at 2 pm. 2004, with two shows for kids at the same venue July 3rd and 4th.
Acadie's 400th Anniversary
L’ArtCADIE is an art exhibition evoking Acadian history, culture and customs. At the Old Port from June 26th to July 4th, Noon to 7:00 pm
Official Ceremony & Military Parade
The festivities begin July 1st, 11:30 am with a military display featuring the Forces Terrestres du Québec, the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, the Compagnie franche de la marine and the Compagnie du 2e Bataillon du Régiment de LaSarre.
At noon, on the Main Stage at Jacques Cartier Pier, the official ceremony unfolds, the Canadian flag is raised, citizenship awards are handed to deserving citizens, and it all ends with several giant birthday cakes and a show featuring pianist Marika Bournaki.
Official Parade
The parade begins at 11:00 am, July 1st at the corner of Ste-Catherine and du Fort streets. It travels east along Ste-Catherine to Peel, then heads south to René Lévesque, and west towards Dominion Square and Place du Canada.
The parade should arrive at its destination by 11:45 a.m.
An official ceremony follows. Then the “birthday party” carries on until 4:30 p.m. – with cake for everyone and an afternoon of song and dance performances, including Indian and Philippine dancers, Kollasuyo Polish dancers, and Falun Dafa Chinese group.
Fireworks
At 11 p.m. on the July 1st, the 2004 festivities culminate into a giant fireworks display.
